The School of Public Affairs and Service is a new academic home at the University of Northern Iowa, bringing together Political Science, Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Philanthropy and Nonprofit Development. By uniting these closely connected disciplines, the school offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding society, public policy and justice systems.
Students gain the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to pursue careers in government, criminal justice, nonprofit organizations and community leadership. Through a combination of classroom learning, research opportunities and hands-on community engagement, our programs prepare students to think critically, act ethically and make informed decisions that strengthen communities and serve the public good.

Mission
The School of Public Affairs and Service is an interdisciplinary education, research and action collective. We are dedicated to responding to societal needs through innovative solutions, community partnerships and critical analysis, and to preparing skilled public service professionals and civic-minded thinkers who positively impact society.

Master of Public Policy (MPP) Program was recently accredited by the NASPAA Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation and listed on the Annual Voter of Accredited Programs in conformity with NASPAA standards
