Criminology

John Chase Memorial Scholarship

Each year UNI awards the John Chase Memorial Scholarship to one of our criminology majors. This award honors the memory and accomplishments of former UNI student, John G. Chase.

After graduating from UNI in 1986, John Chase became a police officer for the Dallas, Texas Police Department. On January 23, 1988, he was killed in the line of duty. You may learn more about Officer Chase at the Officer Down website.

The John Chase Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award open to students who satisfy two basic requirements: First, applicants must be criminology majors. Second, they must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference may be given to students who have been actively involved in any level of student government, and students who reside in Rider Hall. All students who meet the two basic scholarship requirements, however, are encouraged to apply.

Deadline: January 15.
