Declare Social Work Major

CSWE accreditation requires that all BSW students apply to and be accepted into the bachelor of social work program. A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 is required for acceptance.

Step 1: Download the fillable PDF application and complete

Step 2: Create or update your resume

Step 3: Complete the Declaration of Curriculum 

• Drop current major or Pre-Social Work major, add Social Work major, drop/keep/add other majors, minors or certificates

Step 4: Create an autobiographical sketch 

• No more than 2 double spaced pages
   
• Respond to all of the following prompts:
   
  • Discuss your specific motivations leading to your desire to become a social worker based on your background, experiences and interests.
     
  • What social, economic and/or environmental justice issues are of interest to you as you think about a career in social work?
     
  • What do you understand as the importance of diversity and difference in shaping a person’s life experience? How might that influence your role as a social worker?
     
  • How do you manage your personal stress?

Step 5: Email the completed application, current resume, autobiographical sketch, and completed declaration of curriculum to Sarina Carillo with "BSW application" in the subject line.
