Dr. Ramanathan Sugumaran Geography Scholarship

In 2019 Vanitha Sugumaran established the Sugumaran Scholarship to honor her late husband, Ramanathan Sugumaran who founded the GeoTREE Center.

NCGE’s Annual Award for Excellence of Scholarship

This is awarded by the National Council for Geographic Education in conjunction with the Association of American Geographers to a graduating senior of outstanding quality.

Irina Childinova Memorial Graduate Student Award

This is awarded by the Department of Geography to a graduate student who demonstrates academic excellence and dedication to the study of Geography in the spirit of its namesake.

Edna L Padovan Endowed Geography Scholarship Fund

In 1994, Edna L Padovan established the Edna L Padovan Geography Scholarship Fund after recognizing the need for endowment funds at the University of Northern Iowa.

Janice Clark Memorial Scholarship

The department of Geography established the Janice Clark Memorial Scholarship fund to honor a graduate who during her short career was known for her consistent concern for rational and socially concerned land use planning.

Jim & Connie Schuerman Scholarship

In 2009, Jim and Connie Schuerman established the Jim & Connie Schuerman Scholarship to stimulate connections between the Geography Department at UNI and Russia to assist in attracting Russian students to UNI.
