Graduate Assistantships
The University of Northern Iowa Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling program currently has seven graduate assistants working for the program. As graduate assistants, we stay busy assisting our cooperating professors and working hard each day to better the program. The past year kept graduate assistants particularly busy working to update course curriculum for the Counseling Program and Department of Education visit. Graduate assistants also work with professors to conduct research, perform office-related tasks, update the website and documentation, and are liaisons of information between students and faculty.
A limited number of graduate assistantships are available, depending on allocation from the Graduate College. Typically second year students are given priority because completion COUN 5105 Counseling Skills is essential in order to work as a lab assistant.
