Gerontology Minor

Gerontology is the study of aging and related issues. Careers in gerontology will show tremendous growth in the future due to the aging of the Baby Boom generation and increased longevity in our society. Geriatrics is a similar field that is more focused on health-related needs of older adults.
The gerontology minor may be useful for students in the following majors:
- Psychology
- Leisure Services
- Social Work
- Sociology
- Family Services
- Heath Promotion
- Marketing
Students may declare a minor in gerontology at the Registrar's Office in Gilchrist Hall or by visiting the main office of the Department of Family, Aging & Counseling in 235 Latham.
