In this program, led by faculty and staff who are licensed healthcare providers, you’ll benefit from student-centered, hands-on instruction and evidence-based learning. You’ll gain valuable clinical experience with healthcare professionals in some of the best facilities around — both on and off campus. Even as an undergraduate, you can conduct research with our faculty AND you’ll get the opportunity to explore human anatomy in UNI’s only human cadaver lab.

PATHWAYS OF STUDY
4+2 PROGRAM
This is a traditional pathway to the acquisition of a Master’s in Athletic Training.
STEP 1: Complete 4 years of
undergraduate education at UNI (120 credits):
- UNIFI (general education credits)
- Major of your choice (Kinesiology with Pre-Athletic Training emphasis, Biology or other)
- Master of Athletic Training prerequisites
STEP 2: Complete 2 years of
graduate education
3+2 PROGRAM
This pathway speeds up the acquisition of a Master’s in Athletic Training at UNI by completing a blended undergraduate/graduate degree.
STEP 1: Complete 3 years of
undergraduate education at UNI (97 credits):
- UNIFI (general education credits)
- Major in Kinesiology with Pre-Athletic Training emphasis
- Master of Athletic Training prerequisites
STEP 2: Complete 2 years of
graduate education at UNI (54 credits)
all 5 years of the 3+2 program must be completed at UNI

And, you’ll have plenty of opportunities, with on-campus training facilities, hydrotherapy room, research laboratory and UNI’s only cadaver lab. With UNI’s Division I college sport teams and community partnerships with local clinics, high schools and colleges, options abound for practical, hands-on learning.
