PSYCH 3179 Cooperative Education
For students who wish to earn course credit for volunteer, internship, or work experiences related to psychology. Requires approval by faculty supervisor (Dr. Hildebrandt), head of the Department of Psychology (Dr. Butler), and Cooperative Education/Internship staff for placement agreement, project and credit arrangements. Required work hours per course credit: 50. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours. Prerequisite: PSYCH 1001, junior standing and consent of instructor. Additional coursework in Psychology recommended. GPA: 2.5. Offered Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Note: No more than 6 hours of PSYCH 3179, PSYCH 4704, PSYCH 4705, or PSYCH 4198 can be applied toward the psychology major. Additional credits may be counted as university electives.
How to sign up
Step 1
Make an appointment with Dr. Hildebrandt to discuss what you might want to do.
Step 2
Locate and secure a volunteer or paid position.
Step 3
Complete the Internship Registration:
- Login to the UNI Job Board
- Select "Career Center"
- Click "Experiences"
- Request an Experience
Once submitted, the form will be work-flowed online through Career Services, Dr. Hildebrandt, Dr. Butler and your field supervisor/employer for approval. If you have questions, contact Laura.Wilson@uni.edu.
Note: You cannot enroll in the course yourself. Career Services will do it for you.
