Presentation Guidelines
Guidelines for All Presentations
- The audience for this conference will include UNI students, faculty and staff, as well as the greater Panther community (family and friends).
- First authors on projects should be undergraduate or graduate students.
- The 2024 conference will be open for submissions from Feb. 26 - March 18. Abstracts should be 100-200 words.
- For additional information, please contact helen.harton@uni.edu or windee.weiss@uni.edu.
Guidelines for Poster Presentations
- Your poster size should not exceed 4' x 6'. The posterboard is 8' wide by 4' high. For assistance with printing, please visit csbs.uni.edu/request-posters. Printing is available, free of charge, to any UNI student.
- A poster number will be given to you upon check-in so that you can identify your poster panel. Check in at the registration desk upon arrival. Arrive about 5-10 minutes before your assigned time.
- Your poster presentation could include a single sheet or multiple sheets, as long as it fits within the space provided for display. Posters should be large enough to read at a distance of 2-3 feet. They should contain graphics (e.g., pictures, graphs, tables, flowcharts) as well as enough text to put the poster in context.
- If you are utilizing the university logo, please visit ur.uni.edu/uni-brand/visual-identity/logos to review guidelines and download the appropriate version.
- Pushpins are required to set up the poster. Bring your own pins if you have some, but we will have some available as well.
- Please be present alongside your poster during the entire presentation time to facilitate questions and discussions.
- Handouts are optional.
- It is the presenters' responsibility to set-up and remove the poster on time.
Guidelines for Oral Presentations
- Presentations should be about 12-13 minutes, with a few minutes left for questions from the audience. Presentations must (in total) be less than 15 minutes.
- You will be assigned a room number and time for your presentation. Please make sure that you arrive about 10 minutes before the beginning of your session (not just before your talk) so that you can load your presentation (e.g., PowerPoint) on the computer and introduce yourself to the session moderator. Bring your presentation or anything you wish to project from the computer on a flash drive. The moderator will enforce the time limit, but it is also a professional courtesy to stay within the prescribed limit.
