Conference Materials & Information
- Position Papers
IHSMUN provides updated guidelines to help student delegates prepare their country position papers for the annual Spring Conference.
Position papers give each UN member nation the opportunity to clearly state their country’s views on the committee topics. Delegates use these papers to demonstrate a strong understanding of their country’s history and current affairs, the issues at hand and the positions of other countries — including allies and adversaries — supporting their country’s stance with well‑reasoned arguments.
Included in the guidelines is a grading rubric, which outlines how position papers will be evaluated. Reviewing the rubric carefully can help delegates qualify for the Outstanding Paper award.
Please be sure to review these guidelines thoroughly with your delegates!
2026 Guidelines will be added to the site closer to the conference.
