How did you become interested in the nursing major at UNI?

I have always wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare field and everyone in my family would describe me as being a “people person”. A lot of my joy comes from making people feel better and doing whatever I can to help with that process.

What have been some of your favorite aspects of the program so far?

I am looking forward to starting clinicals next semester to learn outside of a classroom and have really enjoyed our simulation labs because I feel that they are planned out to the best of their ability.

Are you involved in any other activities outside of the classroom?

I am employed in the emergency room at the Allen hospital in Waterloo and also serve at Toad’s on Main Street.

Any faculty you’d like to highlight who have helped you along your way?

Professor Nedza and Holman have been great attributes in my learning experience here at UNI. They definitely make it a priority to form relationships with their students.

What are your future career aspirations in nursing?

I am thinking of pursuing a career in either pediatrics or trauma.

What advice would you give to students who are considering this major?

My best advice would be to apply yourself. It makes it easier and more fun to learn.
