Graduate Assistantships
The department has a limited number of graduate teaching and research assistantships available for qualifying graduate students (current, incoming, domestic, and international) in the thesis track. Please note, the graduate assistantships (GA) are different from tuition scholarships (see below) and do NOT cover tuition.
Please view the Geography GA Position Descriptions below for terms of employment, compensation, primary responsibilities, and qualifications.
GA applications should be submitted after you have finished your admission application (no need to wait for the admission decision). The application can be found on the Graduate College website. Review the instructions in the document on how to submit the graduate assistantship (for both RA and TA) application: Application for Graduate Assistantship
The GA application deadlines for full consideration are February 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission (not typical). Late applications may be considered pending the availability of funds.
