Why did you choose this degree?
I am passionate about the healthcare field, but also the working relationships that come along with people. With the kinesiology and exercise science major, I get the science background but I also can apply that knowledge in interpersonal settings.

What kind of path did you take to achieve your degree?
I was set on the Pre-OT (occupational therapy) track since my senior year of high school.

If you had an internship or field experience, how it has prepared you for your career?
My internship this semester has provided a direct and valuable insight into working with children experiencing special needs challenges.

What does completing your degree mean to you?
By completing my degree, I am demonstrating the knowledge that I have learned and proving the relationships formed at UNI along the way.

How did UNI help you achieve your goals?
UNI was a great stepping stone, as I have more schooling left to do. The class sizes were small enough to where I could connect with my classmates and receive personal attention from professors, but big enough to provide me with positive career-building opportunities that stood out to graduate schools.

We often say UNI is student focused; a place where professors care--and teach; a place where learning happens in and out of the classroom;  and is perfectly sized. How do any of these statements ring true for you?
All of these ring true to my experience at UNI. I would highlight that this is where professors care and teach. A specific example of this would include the overall majority of professors that I have had within the department know my name and actively want me to succeed. Their support is unmatched compared to other universities in Iowa.

What do you plan to do with your degree? Do you already know next steps/have a position?
I plan to attend the University of Minnesota Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program this fall.
