April has been designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. The 2014 campaign focuses on healthy sexuality and young people. The following events are scheduled to help the University of Northern Iowa build awareness and begin conversations about sexual assault prevention strategies.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Men walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes to start the conversation about sexual assault and gender violence prevention.

Jackson Katz Public Lecture

Jackson Katz will continue the discussion of violence and sexual assault prevention strategies at UNI and will share more about the Mentors in Violence Prevention model (MVP) which he founded in 1993 at Northeastern University. The MVP model has been implemented throughout the country and is currently the model that has been implemented through the Center for Violence Prevention on the UNI campus.
