I am the eldest of my mother’s 7 children thus it is rumored that I am “bossy.” I am a veteran having served in the Army Reserves and discharging right before the Persian Gulf Conflict. My life partner is LC Smith and together we have five children of which four are living. We are proud pet owners of a miniature Schnauzer named, Kobe. My life’s journey has granted me many fruitful relationships and experiences as I am bi-vocational, which means that I have at least two full time vocations. These have varied over the years while all remained to involve human service. My vocation as pastor has remained the same since being installed as the pastor Faith Temple American Baptist Church, USA.
My life’s work in a thumbnail sketch would reveal my passion for working to make the world we live in more equitable for BIPOC and other marginalized identities. Thus, I have served as Program Director or Coordinator for programs designed to address the needs particular to African American/Black Americans, ranging from positions with the National Red Cross as National Faculty for the American Red Cross HIV-AIDS program, doctoral dissertation that examined the racialized experiences of African American students attending predominately white institutions (PWI), and adjunct faculty in the department of Social Work and Women’s and Gender Studies.
