Teaching Interests

Dr. Harman teaches courses on Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Neuroscience, Research Methods and Statistics, Behavioral and Psychological Ethics, Health Psychology, and Introductory Psychology.

Research Interests

Dr. Harman’s primary research interests are in (1) The development of efficient and effective interventions to promote skill acquisition for individuals with developmental disorders (e.g., autism), (2) The role of covert verbal behavior in the acquisition of complex verbal repertoires, and (3) Identification and manipulation of parameters that affect delay discounting and impulsive decision making.

Professional Accomplishments

Dr. Harman runs a productive laboratory in which his students’ work is frequently recognized at local, regional, and national conferences. The work is also published in major journals in Behavior Analysis. Dr. Harman serves on the editorial board for The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and as a guest reviewer for Behavior Modification, The Psychological RecordThe Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, and Education and Treatment of Children.
