Why did you choose UNI?

The size and the campus.

What have you enjoyed the most about attending UNI?

enjoyed the variety of student organizations and campus activities

How did you become interested in your major

I took "Intro to American Poltics" with Dr. Hoffman and was a Precinct Chair in the 2020 Iowa CacausThen COVID showed me the good and bad of Poltics and drove me to get involved

What have been some of your favorite aspects of the major?

Studying International Events and worldwide political systems

How have you been involved outside of the classroom?

NISG allowed me to serve as the Chief Justice and organize the elections for the Student Body. I also served on the Legislative Liason Team advocating for Student Interests at the Capital. Men's Ultimate Frisbee, I was on the team for four years and served as President for three years. I have been in the Varsity Men's Glee Club for four years. I have been inducted into Phi Sigma Alpa, the Political Science Honor Society.

What professors have been most influential through your time here at UNI?

Evan Renfro has been my most consistent teacher having taken about every course he has offered in International Relations. Michael Graziano was the most engaging professor and it didn't matter why you took his class. You couldn't help but get involved. I always looked forward to going to his classes.

What are your post-graduation plans?

Part-TimeMilitary Intelligence Army Officer, Iowa Army National Guard, Camp Dodge, Johnston, Iowa; Full-TimeCedar Falls Public SafetyPublic Safety OfficerCedar Falls.

How has UNI/your major helped prepare you for these plans?

UNI gave me the ability and opportunities to interact with Governmental Agencies at every level from Local to International.

What advice would you give to students who are considering this major?

Not every political science major takes the same courses. Don't be afraid to make your own path with it. The government does 100 things and specializes in a thousand more. Make your own path and come with an open mind about how the world is and how it should be.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Time flies by. I got to UNI in the Spring of 2020 right before COVID and now here I am four years later. It went by in a blink of an eye. I had more personal growth in the last four years than I could have ever imagined.
