Model UN

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic activity in which students function as delegates in a simulated UN conference. The Competition Team typically takes delegates to 1-2 conferences per year where they engage in a simulation with students from dozens of other colleges and universities. MUN is primarily an educational activity, though top performing students and teams are typically acknowledged for their dedication and hard work. If you are interested in joining UNI's MUN Competition Team, please contact the group's student leaders at northerniowamodelun@gmail.com or the faculty advisor at Brian.Warby@uni.edu.

Last year (academic year 2016-2017) we took two delegations to our fall conference American MUN representing Peru and Belize. In the spring we went to Midwest MUN in St. Louis where students represented Botswana.

If you are interested in global issues like climate change, international trade, development, human rights or international organizations, MUN is a fun way to learn what the global actors are doing and kinds of challenges they face to creating solutions.
