Jerry Stockdale
Jerry Stockdale served as acting dean of the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences from November 1985 through fall 1986, providing steady leadership during a period of transition following Robert E. Morin's departure. A professor of sociology and former head of the Department of Sociology, Stockdale brought extensive knowledge of the college and university to the role. As acting dean, he maintained continuity in the college's operations, supported faculty and students and helped guide the college while the university conducted a national search for its next dean. Though his tenure was brief, Stockdale played an important role in ensuring a smooth leadership transition and positioning the college for its next chapter.
