Master Sergeant Nicholas J. Kloberdanz was born in Osage, IA. He enlisted into the Active Army in 2008. He attended Basic Combat Training (BCT) at Fort Knox, KY and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Sill, OK. Upon completion of training, he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 13F, Fire Support Specialist. Upon transitioning to the United States Army Reserve in 2014, he was also awarded the 12B MOS, Combat Engineer.

MSG Kloberdanz’s assignments and duty positions include Operations Sergeant, 4-414th SROTC, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; First Sergeant, 348th Engineer Company (Route Clearance), Kansas City, MO; Platoon Sergeant/Squad Leader/Team Leader, 402nd Engineer Company (Sapper), Fort Des Moines, IA; and Fire Support Specialist, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Fort Drum, NY. He spent 1 month in Africa supporting Shared Accord. MSG Kloberdanz deployed to Afghanistan for 12 months in 2009 as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

MSG Kloberdanz earned both his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a graduate of Osage Community High School. MSG Kloberdanz’s military education includes Master Leader Course, Master Resilience Trainer, Senior Leader Course, Battle Staff, Air Assault, Advanced Leaders Course, 12B Reclassification Course, Basic Leaders Course, Joint Fires Observer Course, and Combat Lifesaver Course.

MSG Kloberdanz’s awards include Meritorious Unit Citation, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (one oak leaf), Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf), Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Good Conduct Medal (two oak leaves), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (one star), Global War on Terror Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, and NATO ISAF Ribbon.
