How did you decide on your major?
The "sports environment life" is what brought me to be passionate about health and exercise. Becoming a physical therapist can grasp that sensation of being able to improve an individual's quality of life.

Why did you choose to pursue this degree at UNI?
UNI is an underdog when it comes to size comparison to other universities. However, it was a school visit that made me realize that UNI has a lot of opportunities for a student like me to able to reach their dream goal. The size of the classrooms are very reasonable allowing the one-on-one connection with any of your professors. The buildings are not too far apart from each other. I am going to be the first generation of my family to graduate from a university and I truly wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else but at UNI.

What challenges have you faced as you've worked toward this degree – and how have you overcome them?
Financing is the toughest challenge to overcome. I am currently working a full time job while attending UNI as a full time student. Another is not having both of my parents at my side, as they are currently in Mexico awaiting their visa acceptance, 12 years and counting. Thankfully I have been working to maintain myself and to be able to focus on my study.

What’s been your favorite memory at UNI?
Being a part of the photo shoot/ video promo for UNI. The interview was very fun and exciting.

How has UNI helped you achieve your goals?
It is my professors that keep encouraging me. Dr. Fabio Fontana is one of many professors that truly exemplifies devotion towards all of his students. His passion through his teachings will motivate anyone who seeks the life of career enjoyment. Dr. Fontana is caring in the way that he'll memorize his students' names and faces. He'll always make sure to ask how you are doing. I don't believe I have ever seen this man without a smile across his face. Dr. Fontana is a symbol that truly displays what UNI is all about.

How has your experience at UNI shaped you?
UNI is shaping me in the right way; I will be prepared for the real world. UNI has taught me how to be with other people, treating them with respect, kindness and motivation. UNI has given opportunities that have changed my level of communication and comfort. I know when my time to graduate comes I'll be more than ready for my career and life itself.

What advice would you give to students considering UNI?
Don't underestimate the size of UNI and the size of their classrooms. UNI will give you "that" college experience that all high school graduates are seeking. UNI is going to challenge you and present opportunities that not all the other universities have. Choosing a path isn't hard, it's choosing the "right" path that will scare everyone away. UNI is here to help an individual that is seeking their "right" path and their faculty will amaze you with their devotion.

What do you plan to do with your degree?
Graduate school will be the next chapter of my life. Becoming a physical therapist is the goal that I am trying to reach.
