Dr. Sei-Young Lee earned her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, School of Social Work, an MSW from California State University, Los Angeles, School of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Engineering at Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea.

She joined the UNI Department of Social Work in 2018 as an Assistant Professor after 10 years of work experience in the Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare systems and Family Violence. Her research interests are in youth outcomes affected by adverse childhood experiences, such as juvenile delinquency and substance use in dual supervision/crossover youth. Her current research focuses on gender norms development, which is a strong predictor of domestic violence/Intimate partner violence in immigrant women with acculturation and enculturation.

She teaches SW 6218 Introduction to Social Work Research, SW 6265 Advanced Social Work Research, SW 6259 Violence Against Vulnerable Populations for the graduate program, and SW 4164 Human Behavior and the Social Environment for the undergraduate program.
