Tim Strauss, associate professor in the Department of Geography, is now serving as the new interim department head. He received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Economics and Geography, M.Sc. in Geography from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Economic Geography.
His research involves applied human geography, specifically transportation planning, transportation safety, GIS and economic geography.
He arrived at UNI in 1999, and chose the university because of its good balance between research and teaching. Tim and his wife, Laura, have lived in England, the Puget Sound region, Michigan, and Ames, but never at the same time. They then met in Cedar Falls during Tim’s first semester at UNI, introduced by a colleague in his department.
Please welcome Tim Strauss in his new role in the Department of Geography!
