Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Erik Lampe serves as the Professor of Military Science and Head of the Department of Military Science at the University Northern Iowa. 

He is an Iowan Native, and graduate of Waldorf College.  LTC Lampe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems and Business Finance.  He also holds a Masters in Intelligence Studies from American Military University. LTC Lampe enlisted in 2003 as a Combat Engineer, before attending Officer Candidate School in 2005. He has deployed four times in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, with two oversea deployments in Poland and most recently Saudi Arabia.

Previous Assignments include: Deputy Commander of the Joint Intelligence Operations Center for United States Space Command, G2 for Office of the Program Manager for Saudi Arabian National Guard; G2 for the U.S. Army Europe and Africa, Mission Control Element; Brigade S2, Division Artillery Brigade, 1ID; Brigade S2, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1ID; Mission Area Expert, Senior Watch Officer, United States Strategic Command; Company Commander, Alpha Company, 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th ID; Battalion S2, 1-8 Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 4th ID.

His Awards and Decorations include: the Bronze Star; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (three bronze oak leaf clusters); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal (one bronze oak leaf cluster); Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal (five campaign stars); North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal.

He is married to Hollie Lampe. They have four children, three daughters and a son.
