Teaching Interests
Professor Johnson taught a variety of courses on U.S. History and interdisciplinary topics in the social sciences during his more than 40-year academic career.
Research Interests
Dr. Johnson has published six books and numerous shorter pieces on topics in twentieth century American legal/constitutional history. He has also edited a two-volume encyclopedia on leading American court cases. His most recent book, a study of affirmative action in America, was published in 2009. He received the Iowa Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.
