Global Studies Major
University of Northern Iowa’s global studies major helps prepare students for life and employment in our highly interconnected world.
The major draws from all four of the university’s undergraduate colleges to provide a well-rounded, interdisciplinary curriculum. You’ll learn about globalization and its impacts, major international problems, and a specific world area, language and culture. This makes the program very versatile, and can open the doors to a wide range of careers or advanced study.

It is especially useful to those interested in social, political or environmental activism, teaching, journalism, public relations, business, marketing or consulting. Interested in graduate school or law school? A global studies major will enhance your preparation in the social sciences and humanities, law and business.

Global studies majors are strongly encouraged to study abroad during their time at UNI! With a required foreign language competency at the second-year college level, it's a great way to gain immersive experience in language and culture.
