Four Geography Students win 2016 West Lakes AAG Awards

Geography students Dane Atkins, Athila Gevaerd Montibeller, Dylan Nielsen, and Peterson Wambuu won awards at the Masters Graduate competition at the 2016 West Lakes AAG Conference being held at Marquette, MI on Oct 13-15.

Among them, Peterson Wambuu won the Second place at the "Graduate Paper" competition with his paper "Lake Chad: The Past, Present and the Future". Dylan Nielsen, Athila Gevaerd Montibeller, and Dane Atkins won the First, Second, and Third Places at the "Graduate Poster" competition, respectively. The titles for their posters are: "Thermal Remote Sensing and Prairie Biomass Productivity (Dylan Nielsen)", "Mapping Evapotranspiration of Corn and Soybean using an Unmanned Aircraft System in Ames, Iowa (Athila Gevaerd Montibeller)", and "Integrating Oblique Photography from a Fixed-wind Drone for 3D Point Cloud Modeling (Dane Atkins)".
